2025-2026 Blalock Fellowship Awards

Three incoming University of Washington PhD students – from Departments of Communication, Political Science and Sociology – are CSSS’s 2025 Blalock Fellows.

Betsy Broaddus holds a B.A. in Public Policy from Duke University. She has spent four years working as a Research Associate for The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, NORC at the University of Chicago. She is entering the Department of Communication PhD Program aiming to research connections between media use and civic engagement in young voters.

Taylor Cox received a B.A. in Arabic and another B.A. in Peace, War & Defense at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and later earned a Master of Global Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. She is joining the Department of Political Science PhD Program with four years of professional experience as a researcher of humanitarian impacts of military operations. 

Lindsay Maurer holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Davis. She comes to UW with several years of experience working in the field of education research and evaluation. She is entering the Department of Sociology PhD Program in order to pursue a career in political and historical sociology research.

The new fellows will be introduced at the opening CSSS seminar on October 1st
