Celebrating CSSS founding director Adrian Raftery
On August 9th, CSSS co-hosted a conference to celebrate the career of Adrian Raftery, the founding Director of CSSS. The day-long event, held in the Walker-Ames room of Kane Hall, featured scientific presentations by Adrian's former students, collaborators, and colleagues. The celebration continued in the HUB's Lyceum room with a lovely cocktail reception and dinner. Adrian's guests shared heartfelt memories, commemorated his achievements, and honored his enduring impact on our community.

Adrian Raftery, the Blumstein-Jordan Professor of Statistics and Sociology at the University of Washington, is a distinguished scholar known for his groundbreaking work in statistical methodology. Born in Dublin, Ireland, he has made significant contributions to fields ranging from environmental science to public health. His mentorship has also shaped the careers of numerous Ph.D. students, many of whom now hold esteemed faculty positions at universities worldwide.
