Shreya Prakash, PhD Student, Wins American Statistical Association Student Paper Competition

Congratulations to Shreya Prakash, a PhD student in the Department of Statistics, for being selected as a winner of the 2026 American Statistical Association (ASA) student paper competition jointly sponsored by the Social Statistics Section, Government Statistics Section, and Survey Research Methods Section of the ASA. 

The paper is titled "Causal decomposition of Black-white disparities in NIH's selection of proposals for panel discussion.” Prakash is the lead author on the paper and co-authors include Carole Lee and Elena Erosheva.

As a student paper competition winner, Prakash will receive a cash prize and will present the work in a special session at the 2026 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) in Boston, MA, in August.
